Organist/Choir Director

Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 57 Center Street, North Tonawanda, NY 14120

Description:

The position is part-time. Duties include Masses on the weekend at 4 PM on Saturday, and 8:30 AM on Sunday. On alternate Sundays the Organist will be responsible for the 10:30 A.M Choir Mass. The candidate will conduct weekly choir rehearsals. Additional liturgies include the Vigil Mass for Holy Days of Obligation, The Easter Triduum, and the Midnight Mass on Christmas Day. Liturgy meetings are held on a monthly basis. Weddings and Funerals are usually the responsibility of the Organist, and include a stipend per event.

Job Title:

Accompanist - The Genesee Chorale (Batavia, NY)

The Genesee Chorale (Batavia, NY)

Description:

The Genesee Chorale, a 70-75 member chorus seeks a pianist to serve as accompanist for rehearsals and performances. We rehearse each Monday evening in Batavia, NY from 7:00 to 9:00 PM.

Our performance seasons run from September to December and January to May. The choir does not meet during the summer months. Each performance season includes one to two major performances. Occasionally smaller outreach performances are scheduled in advance as well. Recent repertoire includes music by Dvorak, Schubert, Mozart, Brahms, Vaughan Williams, Beethoven, Randall Thompson, as well as a variety of shorter choral pieces. Required qualifications:
Experience with choral accompanying.
Excellent sight-reading skills.
Ability to read open score.
Experience playing for and following a conductor.
Ability to run occasional sectionals during the regular rehearsal time. Professional, yet pleasant attitude.

Preferred qualifications:
Ability as an organist.

Compensation:
$75 per service (rehearsal and performance) negotiable

Description:

Primary responsibility of the organist is to provide organ/piano accompaniment at the regularly scheduled weekend Masses (Saturday 4:00 PM and Sunday 10:30 AM choir liturgy) and to provide music for additional services during the year, i.e. Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Thanksgiving Day, Easter Triduum, July 16th and Holy Days of Obligation. The organist will also be responsible for funerals, weddings, Memorial Masses and working with Anita Harless, choir director, in planning music and the weekly choir rehearsal on Wednesday evenings.
